Terms of service

Last updated October 14, 2026

Draft — under legal review. This page may change before launch.

These terms are an agreement between you and Plant Sitters for using the app and theplantnetwork.com. By creating an account you agree to them and to our privacy policy.

What we do

We run a marketplace. Owners who are going away book local sitters to visit and care for their plants. We match owners with sitters, take payment and pay sitters. Sitters are independent people, not our employees or agents. They choose which sits to accept and how to do the work, following the owner's care cards.

Your account

Sitter checks

Before a sitter can take a sit, their ID is matched to a live selfie by Stripe Identity and we approve them by hand. These checks lower risk but can't rule it out. Meet your sitter before the first visit and use your own judgment.

Payment

Cancellations and problems

Owners cancel a sit in the app, which shows the refund before you confirm. Refunds follow the cancellation policy. To change a sit, or to report a problem with one, contact support as soon as you can. We'll work it out with you and the other person.

Conduct

Treat each other with respect. Don't harass, discriminate, steal, damage property, misuse anyone's personal information, or use the service for anything illegal. Don't post false reviews. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and we'll cooperate with the police where needed.

Reviews and photos

You keep ownership of what you post. You let us store and show it to the people involved in the sit, and use it to run and improve the service. Don't post anything you don't have the right to share.

Plants are living things

Plants can decline for many reasons, including pests, disease, weather and their condition before the sit. Sitters follow your care cards, but we can't promise how any plant will do.

Limitation of liability

We provide the service as is. To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim about a sit is limited to the amount you paid or received for that sit. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.

Disputes

If something goes wrong, contact support first; most problems are solved that way. These terms are governed by the laws of California, and disputes go to the courts of Alameda County, California, unless the law where you live says otherwise.

Ending your account

You can delete your account in the app at any time. We may close an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk. Sits already paid for are settled first.

Changes

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Using the service after that means you accept the new terms.
